USA Today Reviews: Jaguar XF Diesel Sets a New Standard

Despite the unfortunate aftermath of Volkswagen's emissions issue, diesel power need not be anathema here in the U.S. Diesel engines deliver exceptional fuel efficiency, and unlike the motors of yesteryear, new engine technology ensures today's diesel engines are environmentally friendly as well. With the new 2017 Jaguar XF, the automaker has cracked the code with its entry-level sedan.

640 × 480?

The 2017 Jaguar XF 20d uses a 2.0-liter turbodiesel that makes 180 horsepower and an impressive 318 pound-feet of torque and is EPA-rated at 30 mpg city and 40 mpg highway. With a loss of nearly 400 pounds in body weight, the XF feels exceptionally nimble and responsive on the open road.

Inside, the XF is all Jaguar - from the nearly invisible A/C vents that only reveal themselves when needed to a start/stop ignition button that pulses quietly until pushed. Jaguar's "interesting" infotainment system has also been updated, and now includes a responsive and intelligent touchscreen interface with Bluetooth connectivity. The interface is customizable and can be set to display everything from remaining fuel to a full-color map with your highlighted destination. Other available features include a premium, 11-speaker Meridian audio system ad a broad range of driver assist technologies, from blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert to front and rear parking sensors and lane departure warning.
