Discover How the new Jaguar F-PACE Compares to its Long Island Rival

Are you thinking about rewarding yourself with a premium performance-inspired crossover? If you are, then two of the top models out there are our Jaguar F-PACE and the Maserati Levante. Both are handsomely appointed and offered with a variety of powerful engines, so we decided to put together this comparison in order to help you make your final decision as to which is the better option for your driving needs.

When we looked at the introductory trim level of each model, it's quickly apparent that Long Island drivers are paying a significant premium for the Maserati name. The base Jaguar F-PACE has a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of $44,600, while the Maserati starts out with an MSRP of $75,980. To us, that $31,000 can be better spent adding features to the F-PACE, upgrading to a higher level, or on something else in your life -- especially when you consider all of the features that the F-PACE offers that the Levante can't match.

Both SUVs come with the premium features and amenities that you expect of a luxury crossover, but the introductory Jaguar F-PACE includes standard features that Maserati makes you pay even more money to add to the base Levante. These include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote trunk release, power tilt/sliding sunroof, premium sound system, and an onboard hands-free communication system.

When it comes to interior space, the F-PACE provides more space for both front and rear-seat passengers, with rear seats that recline. The Levante's rear seats don't recline, making it less comfortable for long road trips. The F-PACE also offers the greater cargo space of the two, allowing you to carry more items with you on those trips.

While the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 in the Levante does offer more horsepower and torque than the base 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in the F-PACE can manage, the F-PACE is able to deliver faster 0-60 mph and quarter-mile times. Plus, the F-PACE offers more engine options throughout the lineup, with five total; the Levante offers four, with performance metrics remarkably similar when you look at the top available output.

It's worth noting that the F-PACE earns better EPA-estimate fuel efficiency than does the Levante, with a regenerative braking system helping the F-PACE convert inertia back into energy. The Levante doesn't feature a regenerative braking system, so its inertia is wasted.

When it comes to handling, the F-PACE has speed-sensitive variable-assist power steering that allows for easier parking, better control, and a better sense of the road. The Levante doesn't offer variable-assist power steering to its owners.

Your Jaguar F-PACE comes with the better complimentary manufacturer protection plan, like a 5/year-60,000-mile basic new car limited warranty, 5-year/60,000-mile drivetrain warranty, 6-year/unlimited miles of corrosion protection, and 5-year/60,000-mile roadside assistance plan. The Levante comes with a lesser 4-year/50,000-mile coverage for all four, leaving you exposed to expensive repairs much sooner.
